California prosecutors are considering charging the state’s largest utility company with crimes, including murder and manslaughter if it is found responsible for starting two recent deadly California wildfires, according to Business Insider.
The California state attorney general has stated in a new court filing that if Pacific Gas & Electric Co. is found to have mismanaged or has failed to maintain power lines, it would face a wide range of charges.
Prosecutors have written that they are prepared to pursue charges including minor offenses, felonies or misdemeanors, as well as implied-malice murder and involuntary manslaughter.
