According to Automotive News, a public interest group called for Hyundai and Kia to recall nearly 3 million vehicles.
The Center for Auto Safety urged Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors America to recall crossovers and sedans that pose a non-collision fire risk.
The group petitioned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration back in June to investigate cars manufactured between 2010 and 2015.
The group cited the Kia Sorento and Optima from 2011 to 2014, including the Hyundai Sonata and Santa Fe models produced during the same time. They also asked the NHSTA to investigation Kia Souls manufactured between 2010 and 2015.
